KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party expressed concerns over delay in mayor’s election in Karachi. Senator Taj Haider who has been in-charge of central election cell of PPP in letter to Chief Election Commissioner expressed Party’s concern over delay in mayor’s election in largest city of Pakistan.
“It is not justified to halt 250 members of city council from electing mayor due to deferred election on 11 seats,” Taj Haider argued in letter to CEC. He demanded of ECP to hold mayor’s election without any delay.
Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman earlier demanded ECP to announce schedule for elections on remaining 11 union committees in Karachi. He said that Local Government elections were held in city on January 15 but ECP is yet to announce poll schedule for 11 UCs where elections had been postponed because of candidates’ deaths. He reiterated JI’s demand that ECP decide cases of six UCs, declaring them open-and-shut cases on basis of Form 11 and Form 12.
