LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party decided to focus all attention on Punjab province before general elections. According to reports, former President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto will visit Lahore soon, during which CEC meeting of Pakistan Peoples’ Party will be held in Lahore, with aim of activating party in Punjab. Meeting was decided on failure of provincial leadership.

Sources said that Asif Zardari will hold meetings with party leaders and office bearers in Lahore, in which consultations will be held on appointments to party posts in province, strategies for public relations campaign will also be decided before elections.

Proposal to hold party convention during Asif Zardari’s visit to Lahore is also under consideration. Sources said that party leadership is deeply disappointed with performance of People’s Party Punjab, as it was expected that important figures from Punjab would join PPP, but before election, PPP has not achieved any major success in Punjab, main reason of which has been attributed to failure of Punjab leadership to activate party in province.

Sources said that PPP officials in Punjab are suffering from mutual infighting, party is being affected by quarrels of provincial officials.

Punjab leadership still could not find permanent President of party in province, due to lack of interest of leadership, permanent President of party could not be appointed in Punjab while temporary President PP Punjab Rana Farooq Saeed failed to activate party in province.
