PPP top brass meets PM Shehbaz to wrap up NA dissolution matter

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples’ Party co-Chairman Asif Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to wrap up matters pertaining to dissolution of National Assembly (NA). PPP’s top brass arrived at Prime Minister House here. Meeting between three leaders focused on crucial matters such as formation of caretaker governments and political strategy, according to sources familiar with discussions.

Additionally, dissolution of NA and upcoming general elections were also key topics on agenda. Sources have revealed that premier made decision to consult with Pakistan Democratic Movement and allied parties regarding these important matters.

It is expected that meeting of PDM and allied parties will be convened later this week. During gathering, possibility of setting date for dissolution of NA is likely to be discussed.

Earlier reports suggested, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples’ Party agreed to dissolve National Assembly on August 8.  However, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb took to her official Twitter handle, clarifying that date of dissolution of lower house of Parliament has not been decided yet. “Date [of dissolution] will be decided in consultation with PDM and other allied parties. Decision on date of dissolution of National Assembly will be officially announced,” she added.
