PPP taking steps for resolving farmers’ issues: Kundi

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and Pakistan Peoples’ Party Central Secretary Information Faisal Karim Khan Kundi said that his party was taking steps for resolving issues being faced by farmers. He expressed these views during meeting held here at circuit house with delegation of local farmers including Raja Anwar Ali, Azmat Ullah alias Mannu Khan, Matti Khan, Haji Abdul Razzaq, Hafeez Ullah and others. PPP district president Malik Farhan Afzal Dhap was also present. Minister regretted that some sugar mill owners did not pay price of sugarcane to farmers even at end of crushing season.

He said that several important steps were being taken by government for welfare of farmers. On this occasion, farmers’ delegation apprised State Minister that management of Miran Sugar Mills Dera was not paying prices of sugarcane to farmers properly.

Kundi said that agriculture sector was backbone of country’s economy and development of this sector needs full attention. He assured delegation that their issues would not only be taken up before local administration but also with quarters concerned in Islamabad.
