PPP govt likely to reject ‘digital census results’

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party-led Sindh government hinted at rejecting digital census results. All Parties Conference convened by Pakistan Peoples’ Party was held to discuss reservations over digital census. APC was attended by prominent political leaders of major political parties and representatives of nationalist parties. After APC meeting, PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro told media that there are many concerns over digital census, adding that house census and population census cannot be completed in prescribed time.
Khuhro said that APC demanded to separately count overseas Pakistanis. He said that in current digital census, CNIC was not made mandatory to count an individual. He expressed concerns that an immigrant can easily get counted in digital census without showing national identity. On behalf of APC he demanded Sindh should be counted correctly by extending time of census. He said that suggestions of APC were also sent to Sindh Chief Minister.
APC demanded CM Sindh to discuss issues with Centre, otherwise, province will reject digital census result. Government is conducting digital census across Pakistan which will end on April 4. Yesterday, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan summoned by Pakistan Peoples’ Party on March 18 to discuss reservations over digital census.
Sources claimed that decision was taken in meeting of Rabta Committee. meeting also reviewed preparations for rally on March 18.
