Power tariff likely to be scaled down by Rs2.20/unit

ISLAMABAD: Electricity tariff is likely to be scaled down by Rs 2.20 per unit. Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) filed application with NEPRA for scaling down power tariff by Rs 2.20 per unit under head of fuel adjustment for month of December. CPPA has taken plea in its application that more than 8.96 billion units electricity was generated in month of December. Reference cost of electricity was fixed Rs 9.03 per unit.
On other hand production cost of electricity remained Rs 7.11 per unit in December. Power tariff be reduced by Rs 2.20 per unit under head of fuel adjustment. Relief amounting to Rs 17.81 billion will be provided to consumers if application is accepted by NEPA. This benefit will not be given to consumers of life line and K-Electric consumers.
