ISLAMABAD: Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir said that consumers of electricity would be given relief in fuel adjustment price in next month’s electricity bills. Speaking in National Assembly, he said reduction in oil prices at international market and appreciation of rupee against dollar has helped to slash fuel price. Adjustment for June was Rs 10 per unit while now it was 22 paisa per unit, he said.

He admitted that during last couple of months fuel price adjustments in electricity bills had affected consumers. He said as per instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif government has fully passed on relief to consumers. “Electricity consumers would see relief in electricity bill in next month” he hoped.

He said total relief of Rs 65 billion has been provided to consumers using less than 300 units, farmers, and flood-affected people from power sector.

Responding to point of Muhammad Aslam Bhootani’s concerns regarding power plants in his areas, he assured that observations of lawmakers would be addressed.
