Pollution is a term which even kids are aware of these days. It has become so common that almost everyone acknowledges fact that pollution is rising continuously. In pollution, we mean a substance that has been introduced uninvited into something. Various pollutants are contaminating earth's natural resources when we talk about pollution. These effects are mainly caused by human activities that harm environment in a number of ways. As a result, it is an issue that creates economic, physical and social troubles. It is vital that this problem is addressed immediately.
Pollution occurs when impurities contaminate natural surrounding; which brings about changes that affect our normal lifestyles adversely. Toxins are key elements of pollution which are generally waste materials of dissimilar forms. Pollution disturbs our ecosystem and balance in environment. With innovation and development in our lives pollution has reached its peaks; giving rise to global warming and human illness.
Air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and soil pollution. Air pollution is contamination of air in atmosphere when harmful or excessive quantities of substances such as smoke and harmful gases from industries, CFCs and oxides produced by automobiles, burning of solid wastes, etc. are introduced into environment. Water pollution is contamination of water bodies like lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater. Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds. Noise pollution causes with an increasing population, urbanisation and industrialisation, noise pollution is becoming a serious form of pollution affecting human life, health, and comfort in daily life. Horns of vehicles, loudspeakers, music systems and industrial activities contribute to noise pollution. Soil pollution or land pollution results from deposition of solid waste, accumulation of biodegradable material, deposition of chemicals with poisonous chemical compositions, etc. On open land. Soil pollution causes several diseases in man and animals like Cholera, Dysentery and Typhoid etc.
That is to say, pollution is damaging our earth severely and we need to realise its effects and prevent this damage. In this article we try to figure out causes and effects of pollution.
Pollution affects quality of life more than one can imagine. It works in mysterious ways, sometimes which cannot be seen by naked eye. Despite its enigmatic nature, it is profoundly present in surrounding environment. Natural gases are present in air even though you may not see them. Similar to pollutants that are polluting air and increasing carbon dioxide levels, pollutants pose a great threat to humans. Global warming is a consequence of increasing levels of carbon dioxide. Degradation of human organic and chemical waste harms land and soil. It also releases chemicals into land and water. Pesticides, fertilizers, soil erosion and crop residues are main causes of land and soil pollution. Water is easily polluted by any pollutant, whether it be human waste or factory chemical discharge. We also use this water for crop irrigation and drinking. They, too, get polluted as a result of infection. Climate change is also a source of pollution in environment. It also has an impact on ecosystem's physical and biological components. Unpredictably cold and hot climate influences earth's natural system.
Furthermore, earthquakes, starvation, smog, carbon particles, shallow rain or snow, thunderstorms, volcanic eruptions and avalanches are all caused by climate change, caused entirely by environmental pollution.
Exposure of pollution is worse than it has ever been. There are public health problems regarding diseases that pollution causes such as cancer, birth defects and asthma which might be related to environmental exposures. Air and water we breathe are necessary to our health and is needed to survive. At a personal level, we can minimise environmental pollution by taking public transport or carpools to reduce vehicular smoke, avoiding firecrackers at festivals and celebrations can also cut down on air and noise pollution, not using fertilisers and pesticides which can cause both water and soil pollution and switching over to organic farming. Government can also bring severe rules and regulations to diminish industrial pollution.
People should join hands to decrease pollution. So that our coming generations can experience healthy environment. To preserve healthy living environment, people should take some precautions and measures. We should effort on Going Green, plant more trees, remove waste in nature. We need to save agriculture. We need to strike a balance between Industrial progress and Preservation of Nature. Improve Cleanliness, waste Discarding system. We should avoid creating more waste dump into land to keep land safe. Instead of creating more and more, we should look at recycling and reprocessing. There is strong requirement to teach people about horrors of Pollution. We should spread awareness regarding it. Role of Government, mass media and civil society is necessary. World should know dangers of pollution for world.
Time, however is still there to minimise its impacts. We need to adopt and accept responsibility of securing our mother earth. As tackling this problem calls for a joint effort, so we must join hands now. In order to have healthy future ahead and ensure progress success of successive generation, we must stand and act unitedly to address it. We need to take every possible effort to save it. Apart from that, we must organise and motivate our people for collective purpose of saving our environment for good future. It is important that we follow suggested measures to curb this issue. It is our responsibility to make our place a better place for living. In order to make earth survive, we have to stop polluting it.
