Political stability, harmony, growing economy essential of nation-building: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal stressed need to adopt one-point agenda of nation-building by promoting equality and ensuring just distribution of national resources.

Addressing an event organised by International Islamic University Islamabad (AAIUI), he highlighted that Pakistan is democratic country and could be led and developed with continuation of democratic process.

He said that there were three basic pillars to build nation on strong fundamentals which included sustainable political system, social solidarity free from hatred and growing economy.

Ahsan stressed need for attaining financial and constitutional stability to come at par with developed nations, adding that collective efforts were needed to pull out country from confronted challenges.

Minister said that collation government was making all-out efforts to ensure equal development and shared prosperity across all federating units by distribution of resources on equality. He said that government was paying special emphasis on development of underdeveloped areas and special funds were being allocated for uplift of these areas.

Ahsan also urged need for developing industries on modern lines in order to achieve higher growth and put economy on right track of growth to create prosperous society.

Meanwhile, two day international conference ‘Nation Building in Pakistan Prospects and Challenges’ organised by Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of International Islamic University (IIUI) concluded here at Faisal Masjid campus. During two days conference witnessed more than 40 research papers by eminent scholars of national and international repute in education, sociology and mass media and international relations. In different sessions of conference, national and international experts, researchers, academicians and intellectuals discussed various challenges and solutions in nation building process of Pakistan.
