Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has said that political issues can be resolved in better way only through negotiations and consensus. It is expected that political parties will agree on date for simultaneous elections across country.
Order said effort of parties to solve political issues through negotiations is commendable. It further said PTI and government committees submitted their reports on negotiation process. Saad Rafique said there has been consensus on holding elections on single day across country. He also said that if talks continued, they could agree on date as well. However, Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed disappointment over progress in negotiations.
Court adjourned hearing of case for an indefinite period. It should be noted that Ministry of Defense has filed petition to hold simultaneous elections across country.
Ministry further said in petition that Supreme Court should withdraw its order for elections in Punjab in view of security situation and order exercise after completion of term of Sindh and Balochistan assemblies.
