Police man martyred, several injured in suicide blast

ISLAMABAD: One police man has been martyred and several other persons including  3 policemen have been injured in suicide blast in sector I-10/4 in Islamabad.

According to Police sources Eagle squad personnel intercepted a car and during search the terrorists blew up the car which was laden with explosive material. One police man was martyred and 4 were injured in blast. The injured were shifted to hospital.  Emergency has been imposed in the hospital.

The martyred policeman has been identified as headconstable  Adeel Hussain while the injured include  police men Muhammad Hanif, Muhammad Yousuf and Muhammad Bilal. The law enforcement agencies besieged  the area soon after  blast and movement of unauthorized  vehicles has been stopped .

The  rescue teams and law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene after blast. Investigation into the incident has been started with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the area.  According to Islamabad police spokesperson security  was high alert in Islamabad and checking was underway. Police personnel deployed on checking intercepted a  suspicious vehicle. The suicide  bomber blew himself up as soon as the vehicle stopped.  Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Sohail Zafar Chatha told the media  that body  parts of a man and a woman have been collected from the scene. The media will be informed after investigation into the incident is completed.

Director PIMS  Khalid Mehsood told the media men10 injured have been brought to hospital so far. Dead bodies of two persons have been brought. Dead body of a police person and a citizen have been brought. The process of identification of the  injured is underway.  Following the blast, security has been beefed up in Islamabad and Rawalpindi while checking at exit and entry points of the cities have also been made stricter. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while strongly condemning the suicide blast in Islamabad, has sought report from the police. In a statement, the Prime Minister paid homage to the martyred Police Constable Adeel Hussain.

The Prime Minister said the entire nation salutes their valiant police personnel, who sacrificed lives and stopped the terrorists. He said the nation will continue its fight against complete elimination of terrorism. The Prime Minister also expressed sympathies with the injured and directed to provide best treatment facilities to them. He also directed the IG Police to confer awards on the police personnel for their extraordinary bravery. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has paid glowing tribute to the Islamabad Police for their dedication and devotion in performing duty.
