PMSA, Customs jointly conduct anti-smuggling drive, nab culprit recover durgs

KARACHI: In an Anti-smuggling drive against NARCO smugglers, PMSA and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement jointly conducted three consecutive counter narcotics intelligence based operations successfully in Arabian Sea. During operation, narco smuggling of worth billions of rupees in International market was averted.
During operations, smugglers of a boat after watching PMSA ship approaching towards them, threw drugs into sea. Despite smugglers attempt to destroy evidence, PMSA ship after tireless efforts recovered drugs thrown into sea and apprehend culprits. Drugs recovered from sea and from boats is worth approximately Rs 2 billion in International market. Smugglers along with their three boats were apprehended and are being given to Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi for further Investigation and necessary action. 2. It is to highlight that during last 01x month PMSA and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi have conducted 07 x successful Anti Narco Operations and averted approximately worth Rs 13 Billion(PKR) Narco smuggling. Total 39 smugglers and 06 x boats were also apprehended during these Operations. Whereas 01 x boat was set on fire by smugglers and it sank in Arabian sea. 3. Successful operation by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi resulting in seizure of large quantity of narcotics is a testament to the fact that we are vigilant and remain committed in preventing use of Pakistani waters for any unlawful act/ purposes.
