PM urges Turkish firms to expand investment, relocate industries

 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Turkish companies to further expand their investment portfolio in Pakistan, also urging them to consider relocating their industrial units to country.

Talking to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan who called on him here he said that current level of bilateral trade was not commensurate with existing potential. He emphasised to undertake concerted efforts for achieving bilateral trade target of $ 5 billion in next three years as already agreed by leadership of two brotherly countries. While underscoring special bonds of brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkiye, he expressed satisfaction over positive momentum in bilateral relationship.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to further expansion of bilateral cooperation, in all areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, technology and defence. Regional and global developments, particularly worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza were also discussed in meeting. Prime Minister appreciated President Erdogan’s staunch advocacy for permanent ceasefire in Gaza and lasting peace in Middle East. He stressed urgency and importance of realisation of two-state solution as key to attainment of durable peace in Middle East. Both sides reaffirmed their strong and abiding support to each other on core issues of national interest.
