PM urges SA’s Jomaih Group to invest in alternative energy sector

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar urged Al-Jomaih Group of Saudi Arabia to invest in alternative energy sector of Pakistan. In meeting with four-member delegation led by Al-Jomaih Group head Sheikh Abdulaziz Hammad, he said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had brotherly ties which were getting further stronger. Al-Jomaih Group had made huge investment in K- Electric.
Interim PM said that Pakistan greatly valued Saudi investment and welcomed its investment in energy sector. He lauded K-Electric strategy to invest in alternative energy sector as it would help reduce power tariff for benefit of consumers.
He expressed hope that K-Electric would further improve its infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply to domestic and industrial consumers. Al-Jomaih Group thanked interim PM and government team for resolving longstanding issues faced by company.
Apprising Kakar of company’s 1,500 megawatt projects, delegation informed him that projects would feature usage of local resources and alternative energy. Interim Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar, interim Energy Minister Muhammad Ali and relevant senior officers attended meeting.
