Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that at end of government's tenure, it is apt for him to take stock of last 16 months since coalition government assumed office through constitutional process of no-confidence and share his perspective with nation.

Political parties that formed government have different political manifestos and agendas. Despite being political rivals, we chose to come together on national agenda shared and owned by us all. Last sixteen months saw how decision-making by consensus became, I consider it major step forward in our democratic evolution.

Secondly, restoring Pakistan's prestige, honour and credibility as reliable partner and friend in comity of nations was another challenge that we dealt with collectively. Thanks to our collective efforts, Pakistan has largely repaired damage and emerged as responsible member of international community. We have revived our trust with our brotherly countries including China, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE, etc. CPEC has not only been put back on track but second phase is also underway.

Most devastating floods in our history posed significant challenges to our struggling economy in terms of losses in man and material. As part of its climate diplomacy, government undertook massive international effort to project Pakistan as victim of climate change. We also mobilised gigantic rescue, relief and rehabilitation through our own resources. Our leading role also galvanised international response and led to establishment of Loss and Damage Fund at COP27. Millions of dollars of international aid was spent most transparently.

SIFC established under collaborative approach has prioritised five key areas of national economy, namely agriculture, information technology, mine and minerals, defence production and energy.

This institutional arrangement that has representation of all stakeholders offers One-Window facility to fetch foreign investment to unlock potential in select areas. SIFC is an economic revival plan that has been carefully thought and is being implemented under whole-of-the-government approach.

Shehbaz Sharif said that what has kept him under tremendous stress during these 16 months is heavy cost combination of factors such as conditionalities of IMF programme, skyrocketing commodity prices in international markets and geopolitical upheavals has placed on poor people of Pakistan.

He said that time has come for Pakistan to end 'boom and bust' cycle of economy by focusing on structural reforms. "I am convinced that no quick-fixes will work anymore," he stressed,

PM said our economic revolution will be rooted in harnessing youth potential by providing them cutting-edge tech education leading to massive job creation and promoting modern agro industry. "Work, work and work alone shows us way forward," he said. '

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that consensus will be reached soon on caretaker Prime Minister as he will be meeting opposition leader again today.

He said that if alleged contents of diplomatic cipher which ex-premier Imran Khan cited as proof of conspiracy to remove his government published in US-based news organisation were true, it was tantamount to “Massive crime”.

He said Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz will participate in election with full force and Nawaz Sharif will lead election campaign.

He said this with conversation in private TV talks. He said, “Entire Pakistani nation is waiting for Nawaz Sharif and under his leadership, Pakistan will once again take path of development.”

He clarified that PML-N is united under leadership of Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif will return to country next month and face law. He commented that difficulties are being faced due to inflation in country but Pakistan was saved from going into default state.
