PM to be summoned if Murad Akbar not recovered: IHC

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC|) has summoned Director General (DG) Rangers, Interior Secretary and IG Police Islamabad on petition seeking recovery of Murad Akbar brother of Shahzad Akbar.

Case came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani here.

Additional Attorney General Munawwar Iqbal Dogal, Assistant Attorney General Usman Ghumman, Advocate General Islamabad Jahangir Jadoon, DIG operations Shahzad Bokhari, SP Nowsherwan, DSP legal, Qasim Wadood counsel for petitioner and others appeared in court. Advocate General Islamabad submitted details of case before court.

Court remarked it was seen in footage who are they. DIG Police told yes we will see it. Court should give us time. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked if persons and vehicles are determined then it will have consequences. If people in such number come in uniform of CTD and Rangers then it will be shameful act. Millions of rupees have been spent on safe city cameras. They make personal video of people and then upload them. But they don’t arrest thieves and robbers.

Court inquired where is DG Rangers. Who is from Defence Ministry. Court while directing DG Rangers to appear in person remarked show-cause notice will be issued against DG Rangers on next hearing. He is responsible if uniform of Rangers is being used. So many people together lifted person in Islamabad. People came in uniform of police and Rangers and took away man. Were they fake people and why did you not register case. Uniforms of police and Rangers are being stolen.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked, “I just issue order. All will understand. Otherwise neither IG nor anyone else has right to stay in Islamabad. DG Rangers should know it if Rangers uniform has been used. People are lifting men in uniform of police and Rangers and no one is caring for it.

Court directed representative of Defence Ministry to say to DG Rangers to appear in court in person on next hearing. DG Rangers and IG should see matter and get register case. Its effect will come.

Court while directing Interior Secretary and DG Rangers to appear in person remarked “Bring with you your FIR. You have to save uniform of your respective institution.

Court while directing IG Police Islamabad to appear in person remarked “If man does not come then I will summon Interior Minister. Even then if he does not come then I will summon Prime Minister. If law and order situation remains this in area of 36 kilometers then people should go homes. Court adjourned hearing of case till Monday.

Court inquired “Tell us people who came were neither from CTD nor from Rangers. This should be confirmed.” DIG Police told court “Yes, there was no one from CTD or Rangers.
