‘PM Shehbaz, King Charles III vow to boost bilateral ties’

London: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with King Charles III and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as part of two-day Commonwealth leaders’ summit being held in London.
Prime Minister congratulated British dignitaries on excellent arrangements made for elaborate two-day ceremonies being held to celebrate coronation of new king, statement issued by PM Office said. He expressed deep appreciation for UK’s generous assistance in wake of disastrous floods that struck Pakistan last year.
During meeting, Shehbaz proposed establishment of joint commission, headed by leaders of two countries to enhance bilateral relations in various fields. King Charles III and British Prime Minister also showed their interest in further strengthening bilateral relations between two countries and praised Pakistani community-based in UK for its role in development of UK.
In his address to meeting, Shehbaz called upon leaders of Commonwealth countries to mark accession of King Charles III as dawn of new era and opening of new vistas and fresh avenues for remarkable family of nations known as Commonwealth.
He urged leaders to reimagine and reinvigorate Commonwealth and infuse it with ever greater synergy and even stronger sense of purpose.
Shehbaz also spoke of his government’s commitment to equipping Pakistani youth with right kind of skill sets and opportunities. He added that his government was empowering women and mainstreaming marginalised youth, religious and ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities and transgender community.
On Saturday, Shehbaz will represent Pakistan at coronation ceremony of King Charles III. He will also hold political consultation with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif. He will consult with Nawaz Sharif on issue of elections that has brought his government at loggerheads with Supreme Court.
