PM Shehbaz directs strict action against wheat, sugar smugglers, usurping masses’ rights

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities concerned to take strict action against smugglers of wheat, sugar and urea, adversely impacting Pakistan's foreign remittances and usurping right of Pakistani people. He issuesddirectives while chairing meeting to review measures to curb smuggling of commodities.

During meeting, steering committee which would be chaired by PM Shehbaz was constituted to prevent smuggling of wheat, sugar and urea. PM said he would not rest until country got rid of menace of smuggling. PM said that he would never allow some black sheep to usurp country's foreign remittances and right of people of Pakistan. He said due to Allah's blessing and government's efforts, country had got bumper wheat crop breaking record for last ten years. He said people of Pakistan had all rights over this produce achieved consequent to farmers' hard work and government's efforts, despite heavy rains and floods.

PM said would never allow smugglers to create problems for people. He said government was also carrying out plans to achieve even more wheat production by next year. He said government had also started implementing comprehensive plan to ensure uninterruped supply of urea to farmers for next crop. He resolved that government would make all-out efforts to Pakistan wheat exporter.

He directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to personally visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to meet provincial authorities and submit report. He said that officials involved in smuggling or showing negligence would be removed and departmental proceedings would be initiated against them.
