PM Shehbaz, COAS Munir inquire after health of injured in Peshawar blast

Peshawar: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir arrived in Peshawar following suicide bombing at provincial capital’s masjid which left at least 32 people dead and more than 157 injured earlier today.
During his visit to the provincial capital, the prime minister also chaired a hurriedly-called meeting on law and order situation, which was attended by top security officials including the army chief.
In tweet from her official handle, Information Minister Marriyum Auurangzeb said premier summoned an emergency meeting which will review motives behind today’s terrorist attack. All relevant institutions have been directed to attend meeting, she said.
PM Shehbaz accompanied by Army Chief visited Lady Reading Hospital and inquired after health of injured.
At least 59 people were martyred and more than 150 were injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a masjid in Peshawar’s Police Lines during afternoon prayers, security and health officials said.
Security officials, confirming that it was suicide attack, said bomber was standing in front row at time of explosion.
PM Shehbaz terrorists wanted to create panic by targeting those safeguarding country and reiterated his resolve to eliminate such elements waging war against Pakistan.
“Killers of innocent people will be made an example. Whole nation including institutions was united against terrorism,” he remarked.
He said nation saluted martyrs and that government would formulate strategy regarding deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
Security Forces have increased vigilance after the attack across the country and are ready to give a befitting reponse to every kind of terrorist activity.
