PM Shehbaz chairs second apex committee meeting of SIFC

Islamabad: Second meeting of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was held here with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in chair. Meeting was also attended by Chief of Army Staff, chief ministers, federal and provincial ministers and high-level government officials.
Apex Committee expressed satisfaction on functioning of SIFC and its strategy to outreach potential investors through conduct of seminars and project inaugurations. Apex Committee also reviewed various projects presented by ministries for broaching with investors under umbrella of SIFC. At end after fruitful discussion and consensus, Prime Minister gave approval of projects for attracting investments from friendly countries in agricultural, livestock, minerals, mining, IT and energy sectors and also directed to extend impeccable facilitation to investors, interested in undertaking and actualising these projects.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said with help of Special Investment Facilitation Council immediate task was to increase Foreign Direct Investment in country up to $ 5 billion.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed five-member committee for purpose of holding consultations on caretaker setup.
Sources divulged that Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, and Ishaq Dar are among Pakistan Muslim League top brass who were included in five-member committee.
Committee will undertake discussions with Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan and other allied parties, regarding caretaker setup.
Along with discussing nominees for caretaker Prime Minister PML-N committee will speak with PDM and other allied parties regarding date to dissolve National Assembly.
Separately on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz said next government should focus on “Economic Revival Plan.”
