PM Shehbaz calls for mechanism to double country’s exports in five years

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed for formulation of strategy aimed at two-fold increase in country’s exports within next five years.

Chairing high-level meeting on export sector, he asked Ministry of Trade for compiling of such strategy in consultation with successful entrepreneurs and stakeholders.

Meeting was attended by ministers including Jam Kamal, Rana Tanveer Hussain, prominent E-commerce entrepreneurs like CEO Utopia Jabran Niaz, Zeeshan Shah, Salman Ahmed and other relevant authorities, PM Office Media Wing said in press release.

During meeting, PM directed for extending facilitation to exporters in E-Commerce sector who had been exporting country’s product to world, besides resolution of issues of ‘Made in Pakistan’ brand exporters.

PM Shehbaz said that they were taking steps for maximum utilisation of export sector, adding for promotion of IT, domestic use item, textile and other exceptional sectors, relevant stakeholders should be taken on board.

Meeting was apprised of proposals and recommendations for development of export sector and strategy in this regard.

Prime Minister underlined for submission of recommendations over promotion of such industries that were exporting those items which had been part of global value chains.
