PM Shehbaz calls for cementing Pak-Turkiye bilateral ties

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underlined need for enhancing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye in all areas of mutual interest, including trade, defence, connectivity and culture.

Talking to Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci who paid courtesy call on him here he emphasised that both countries enjoyed exemplary bilateral relations which are based on shared history, religion and culture and are unshakeable. He said both countries need to work together to achieve annual target of five billion dollars in bilateral trade.

On core issues, Prime Minister said Pakistan deeply appreciates Turkiye’s firm and consistent support for oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support to Turkiye on issue of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Ambassador congratulated Prime Minister on his re-election and conveyed best wishes from leadership of Turkiye and emphasised importance of strengthening fraternal ties between both countries.

PM Shehbaz said people of Pakistan look forward to visit which would provide useful opportunity for both sides to carry out extensive consultations during 7th session of High Level Strategic Coordination Council.
