PM Shehbaz approves major educational initiatives for Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given approval for several significant educational initiatives aimed at increasing educational opportunities in Sindh.
During meeting with Federal Ministry of Education, PM gave in-principle approval for measures to increase educational opportunities in province.
According to Ministry of Education, new campus of Textile University will be established in Sindh to meet region’s growing demand for specialised education in textiles and related industries.
Resident of Karachi will see establishment of National Skills University campus, aimed at enhancing vocational and technical education, along with co-campus of Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design to provide more opportunities in fashion and design education.
Additionally, Mirpurkhas will benefit from new co-campus of Federal Urdu University, expanding access to higher education in region.
Furthermore, new Daanish School will be inaugurated in Karachi to offer quality education to underprivileged children.
Additionally, Benazir Income Support Programme will provide funds for school feeding programme in Sindh, ensuring that children receive nutritious meals to support their education.
Earlier, Vice Chancellors of 21 public universities in Sindh have penned letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, requesting Rs 16 billion to avoid default.
Letter expressed hope that Prime Minister will take necessary steps to stabilise and support universities and higher education institutions, considering high returns on investment in education, as seen in countries like China, Korea, Malaysia and India.
