PM Shehbaz announces Rs15 billion grant to Sindh government

ISLAMABAD: Federal government will provide a grant of Rs 15 billion to Sindh government to overcome heavy losses of lives and infrastructure in wake of massive destruction caused by flash floods, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced.
Addressing media, he said, “Pakistan witnessed one of worst floods back in 2010. However, this flood is even more devastating,” he said. He said that Sindh government’s relief efforts were satisfactory and congratulated Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on taking necessary steps to ensure safety of flood victims.
He thanked Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl for working tirelessly for people. He said, “Federal government has allocated Rs 28 billion for flood victims. Amount will be distributed within a week.” He once again appealed to nation to donate for relief and rehabilitation of people and infrastructure in flood-hit areas. He had arrived in Sukkur earlier to review ongoing relief and rescue activities in flood-affected area. He was received by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari along with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah upon his arrival. He took an aerial view of devastation caused by recent rains.
PM visited Rohri, Khairpur, Faizganj, Kot Diji and Thari Mir Wah. Minister Information Marriyum said that representatives of Sukkur district administration and provincial disaster management authority briefed PM about current assistance activities for flood victims.
