PM Shehbaz announces Ramadhan relief package

Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in veiled reference to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said that one who had ruined country’s economy was now conspiring to scuttle its revival through creation of political instability.

In statement shared by PM Office Media Wing, Prime Minister said that (IK) was hesitant to appear before courts and was repeating same which he did with IMF programme.

Whatever he (Imran) had done with national interests, friendly countries of Pakistan, Constitution, Parliament, institutions, media and with people by price hike, was now repeating same with courts, Shehbaz Sharif added. Meanwhile, in bid to provide relief to poor, Shehbaz Sharif announced special Ramadhan package providing free flour to 'underprivileged masses'.

According to statement, package was approved at meeting chaired by Shehbaz Sharif here. Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Secretary Food and other senior officials attended meeting.

Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil briefed Prime Minister about Ramadhan package. Package is first of its kind aimed at facilitating poor population.

PM said after its launch in Punjab, government would extend cooperation to provinces to replicate programme. He directed authorities concerned to complete comprehensive strategy for supply of free flour to poor families as soon as possible.

ECC approved hybrid model of Ramadhan Relief Package (Targeted and Un-targeted) consisting of 19 items for Utility Stores Corporation, budgeted of Rs 5 billion. Summary was moved by Ministry of Industries and Production.
