PM, President strongly deplore Karachi’s terrorist attack

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned terrorist attack on police office in Karachi, underlining need for “Collective action” to root out terrorism from country. At least six heavy armed terrorists stormed into police compound on main Sharea Faisal Avenue, killing at least two people amid gunfire and explosions.
Police and security forces including paramilitary soldiers had launched an operation to eliminate terrorists and clear building. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan took responsibility for attack in message sent by their spokesman to journalists, according to Reuters. Taking strict notice of attack, PM asked for report on incident. He appreciated police and security forces for their effective action against terrorists. He instructed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan to extend full cooperation of federal government in clean-up operation against terrorists.
He underlined need for collective action and full force of state to root out menace of terrorism. He said that terrorists had once again targeted Karachi, but this kind of cowardly act could not weaken resolve of police and law enforcement agencies. “Whole nation stands with police and security institutions,” he said, praying for early recovery of injured. Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi while condemning terrorist act said that entire nation stands beside security forces. “Efforts will continue to eradicate scourge of terrorism,” he added. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said that terrorists cannot demoralise nation, praising security personnel taking part in operation against militants. “Any attack on security and stability of Pakistan will be dealt with iron hands,” he added.
