PM orders withdrawal of reference against Justice Faez Isa

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calling it baseless and politically-motivated ordered withdrawal of curative reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa, senior most judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Prime Minister instructed Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar to withdraw reference saying that government would not pursue same for it being baseless and politically motivated, PM Office statement said. Cabinet already approved withdrawal of reference in meeting chaired by Prime Minister.
On my direction, the government has decided to withdraw the Curative Review Petition against senior most Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The Curative Review was based on ill-will & meant to harass & intimidate the honourable Judge at the behest of Imran Niazi.

“This was not reference rather victimisation by revengeful Imran Niazi against an impartial person pursuing course of Constitution and law. This was conspiracy to usurp independence of judiciary and create division within,” Prime Minister remarked.
He said while being in opposition, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and other coalition parties opposed this frivolous reference. He said Imran Niazi had also made President of Pakistan “Misuse” his office for this “Criminal act” who became an accomplice in an attack on judiciary. He said lawyers’ bodies including Pakistan Bar Council has had also opposed reference and government valued their opinion.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif extended felicitations to Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on his appointment as Vice President of United Arab Emirates. “May this new chapter be filled with success and prosperity for UAE and its people,” he said in tweet. Congratulations Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on his appointment as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
“As brotherly country, we look forward to continuing our strong partnership and working together towards brighter future for our people and region,” he wrote on Twitter.
