Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif can take vote of confidence from National Assembly himself, adding that it is not necessary he takes it at someone’s demand.
He was confident that even if PM is asked to take trust vote party would be able to show complete numbers.
His remarks come in backdrop of demand from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan who said last week that PM Shehbaz will have to take trust vote. Khan’s demand came to fore after Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan threatened to leave coalition government in centre whose votes are crucial to keep incumbent Prime Minister in office. Replying to query regarding PTI’s comeback to lower house, Khawaja Asif said party returned to assembly with disgrace in 2014 as well.
If they return to assembly, it is their right to speak on floor of house, he added.
He said PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was waiting for party to provide him with legal cover for his return home. All preparations for his homecoming are complete, he said.
Responding to query about newly emerging political scenario, he said, “Let PTI first come to National Assembly. We will see what happens after they come.”
