ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the Pakistan Navy for successfully carrying out an anti-narcotics operation in the North Arabian Sea. In a statement, he lauded the efforts of the Pakistan Navy, highlighting their seizure of a significant quantity of drugs valued at $1 million.

He described this achievement as an important milestone in the country's ongoing anti-narcotics efforts. The prime minister also recognized the crucial role played by the Pakistan Navy in safeguarding the nation's maritime borders and preventing the smuggling of illegal drugs through sea routes.

He expressed pride in the Navy's personnel for their dedication and professionalism in combatting drug trafficking.

Earlier, the Pakistan Navy's media wing confirmed that a naval vessel, PNS Moawin, had successfully intercepted a dhow during a counter-narcotics operation in the North Arabian Sea.

The operation was supported by the Navy's air assets, which helped locate and track the vessel. Upon boarding the dhow, the Navy seized a substantial amount of narcotics hidden in a concealed compartment of the ship.

The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at around $1 million in the international market. This operation underscores the Pakistan Navy's commitment to combating illicit drug trade and enhancing maritime security.

The successful seizure is being hailed as another important step in curbing the flow of narcotics through Pakistan's sea routes.
