PM Kakar says elements ‘spreading chaos’ in Gilgit to face music

GILGIT: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar directed authorities concerned to identify elements spreading chaos in name of religion in Gilgit, and take strict action against them.

Chairing meeting to discuss development projects and law and order situation in Gilgit Baltistan interim Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, interim Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi, Gilgit Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister Gulbar Khan, GB Chief Secretary and IG Police and senior officers attended meeting. In meeting, PM was briefed about progress on projects in information technology, health, education and other sectors as well as issues.

He was told that steps had been taken to identify and address problems confronting education sector in all GB districts, particularly Diamer and Astore.

Measures taken for promotion of education sector included provision of food to students, reconstruction of buildings and rehabilitation of dilapidated structures, professional training of teachers and establishment of smart schools. PM Kakar was also apprised of projects in GB health sector including establishment of 24-hour helpline to address issue of mental health.

Besides performance of environment and tourism sectors, PM was briefed about sowing of wheat and subsidy on crop, production and potential of hydel power in GB as well as budget.

He directed GB administration and leadership to assess scope of ongoing development projects and give special focus on those of crucial nature.
