PM Kakar says construction of key infrastructure must for development of GB

ISLAMABAD: Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that construction of proper communication system and other necessary infrastructure in Gilgit Baltistan was important to ensure sustainable development of area.

“Construction of communication system and other necessary infrastructure can further promote tourism sector of Gilgit-Baltistan and create opportunities for economic development in region.” Talking to 17-member delegation of Royal Foundation of Gilgit Baltistan headed by Raja Nazim ul Amin he said Gilgit Baltistan is rich in natural resources and people of area are very hospitable.

He said maintained that positive trend in tourism had been witnessed in area after upgrading of Skardu Airport to international airport. He said number of countries were showing keen interest to collaborate with Pakistan in tourism sector. He directed concerned authorities to devise strategy to find out sustainable solution to issue of electricity in Gilgit Baltistan.

Interim PM directed authorities to devise plan to increase quota of GB students in higher education and technical education sectors of all provinces of country. He said overall development of Gilgit Baltistan depended upon social integration across area. He appreciated services of Royal Foundation of Gilgit Baltistan in various sectors in area.

Delegation presented proposals to Kakar to improve working of various sectors of Gilgit Baltistan. Kakar was apprised that some 1.6 million tourists visited Gilgit Baltistan last year. Members of Royal Foundation of Gilgit Baltistan presented cultural robe as souvenir to interim Prime Minister Kakar.
