PM Kakar, Iranian President vow to deepen bilateral ties

NEW YORK: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar met President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthen and deepen ties with country.
Bilateral meeting took place on sidelines of 78th Session of United Nations (UN) General Assembly. During meeting, PM Kakar reaffirmed ties with Iran, with particular focus on enhancing cooperation in economic domain.
Underscoring close fraternal relations between two neighboring countries, PM Kakar stressed that steps including recent inauguration of Mand-Border Border marketplace, would not only contribute to economic uplift of Border areas but also serve as tangible manifestation of collective commitment to work for betterment of two peoples.
Noting that Iran President’s policy of ‘Neighbourhood First’ was fully aligned with Pakistan’s vision for regional development and connectivity.
Importance for both countries to leverage their unique geographical location to promote shared objectives of regional peace and prosperity, through greater trade and enhanced regional connectivity. PM Kakar’s engagements in New York today include his address to participants of Global Development Initiative and Sustainable Development Goals summit.
Prime Minister Kakar will present Pakistan at high level moot on Global Development Initiative and would address participants, PM Office Media Wing said in press release.Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar will also attend banquet to be hosted in honour of world leaders by US President Joe Biden.
Theme for 78th session is ‘Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.’
