PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to an all-parties conference (APC) aimed at finding solutions to surmount the daunting economic and political crises. Prime Minister seeks to bring heads of all political parties on table so they can join heads and figure ways out of ongoing situation, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said in statement. Conference is set to take place here on February 7.

In this regard, she said, Federal Minister Ayaz Sadiq has begun contacting top PTI leaders including former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser and ex-defence Minister Pervez Khattak and asked them to participate in upcoming moot.

Invitation is major development as PDM-led government and PTI have always been at loggerheads over almost all national issues, not only since Khan’s ouster from PM Office, but even when tables were turned.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister summoned meeting of National Apex Committee (NAC) today following suicide blast at masjid in Peshawar’s Police Lines. According to details, PM summoned NAC meeting at Governor House, Peshawar which will be attended by political and military leadership. Sources told meeting will review progress in investigation of suicide blast in Peshawar’s Police Lines, which claimed lives of more than 100 people. Participants will also consult on provision of necessary equipment, quality training and modern weapons to KP law enforcement personnel.

In addition, Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated third unit (K-3) of Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP) during his day-long official visit to Karachi. Addressing participants he congratulated scientists and workers of Pakistan and China, who worked on project and said K-3 was step forward in cooperation with Pakistan trusted friend China.  He said in view of $ 27 billion energy import bill, Pakistan required alternative and cheaper sources of energy including solar, wind, hydel and nuclear. He said Pakistan was gifted with enormous resources with potential of producing 60,000 megawatts through hydel power, however, regretted that power generation stood merely at 10,000 megawatt.

Moreover, Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support to Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for achieving inalienable Right to Self-determination. Chairing special meeting to review preparations regarding Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed on Sunday he said entire Pakistani nation will continue its utmost efforts till just and peaceful settlement of lingering dispute of Kashmir. He expressed regret that people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were walled off following unilateral illegal move of August 5, 2019 by India.
