ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated Bhara Kahu bypass in Islamabad and laid the foundation stone of the Serena Chowk underpass.
Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said the project was completed in a record time of 9 months. He said that the bypass will save travel time and increase the flow of tourism.
“Barakahu Bypass has been constructed in a record time of just 9 months. It will save time for travel, remove impediments and increase the flow of tourism and everyday travel to KPK and AJK,” the prime minister said.
The premier urged the authorities to make this highway green, clean and beautiful through landscaping. He also praised the role played by the army chief in the successful completion of the Bhara Kahu bypass project.
“I would like to thank the COAS General Asim Munir and the NLC for devoting time, resources and energy to the realization of the project,” PM Shehbaz said.
“I hope our political leadership and Government departments will make this bypass as beautiful as the road structures and landscape of Baku, Azerbaijan.”
“We must arrive at a political consensus, and every institution of Pakistan must work selflessly, with zeal and commitment, to play its part in the development of Pakistan,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the ambitious project, which spans 5.4 kilometers, includes a 1350-meter-long overhead bridge. The bypass will facilitate people of Murree, Galyat and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
