ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitated Christian community on occasion of Christmas. In message he said Christmas gave message love, brotherhood, tolerance and sacrifice and these values played crucial role in putting society on path of development. He said Hazrat Isa (AS) was panacea for sorrow of humans and spread God’s message to whole of humanity during his time.

Hazrat Isa (AS) made better worldly life and hereafter of humanity and his moral teachings and guidance were beacon of light for everyone during his prophethood. He underlined need for following values of compassion, love, tolerance and brotherhood in 21st century to strengthen moral fabric of humanity. He pointed out that across world in last few decades, wave of religious intolerance had intensified and humans needed to follow message of interfaith harmony and religious tolerance to stop this negative trend. Nations would have to make message of love, to eradicate hate and create peaceful world. He said history was witness that Christian community in Pakistan played a positive role in every walk of life including defence, judiciary and education and contributed to progress and development of country.

He said sacrifices of Christian community for integrity and solidarity of Pakistan were unforgettable. In Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah every person has complete religious freedom and Constitution gives special protection to minorities. The minorities were not only given equal rights but had complete liberty to worship according to their religion and their religious places were protected, he added.

“This country belongs to us all and let us pledge to make Pakistan an example of religious tolerance, brotherhood and peace and play our role to take it out of difficulties. Long live Pakistan,” he added.
