ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressing satisfaction over performance of his economic team said it is difficult time for us and we all will have to work together to steer country out of economic challenges

“Erstwhile government ruined economy and institutions. We are taking steps to stand country on its feet.” Country will not go bankrupt. Poor is in hot water at present. Economic team should take maximum steps for alleviation of poverty and providing relief to masses, he said.

Presiding over meeting of economic team here he said poor people are in difficult situation and providing relief to them is big challenge.

PM directed economic team to extend maximum relief to common man besides stabilising economy. He directed to take concrete measures to stop smuggling of dollar, wheat and urea to Afghanistan.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Governor State Bank and officials of FBR were present. Government economic team gave detailed briefing to PM on country’s economic situation.

PM was given briefing on schedule of repayment of loans and ongoing talks with IMF. Economic team informed about foreign exchange reserves and causes behind valuation of dollar. 

Dar said there is no possibility that country will go default. Loans will be repaid timely.
