PM decides to introduce agri reforms on emergency basis

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif decided to introduce agricultural reforms on emergent basis in country.  A high level meeting on agricultural reforms in country was held here under PM Shehbaz Sharif.  PM was given detailed briefing by sub committees on wheat, cotton, edible oil, fertilizer, use of water in agriculture, climate change and agriculture machinery in meeting. Sub committees presented their recommendations. 

Recommendations were submitted on timely disbursement of loans to farming community, provision of modern machinery on low cast subsidy on urea and DAP, quality seeds to them.    PM directed all respective ministries to evolve agriculture reforms plan within two days out of these recommendations on emergency basis for next crop. Meeting was told that PM would soon announce comprehensive plan for agriculture reforms in country.  PM while addressing meeting said government will provide necessary facilities to farming community on priority basis. Government will ensure provision of state of art machinery and facility for loans to farmers.   Meanwhile, PM expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives and property caused by floods in South Sindh. He in a statement issued here directed NDMA, PDMA and provincial government to accelerate pace of relief activities in flood affected areas. 

First priority in flood situation is rescuing affected people and providing them immediate assistance. He directed that financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per family be disbursed among flood affected people forthwith. Provision of food and clean drinking water, medical and residential facilities to affectees be ensured immediately, he urged.  PM also directed respective institutions to stay ready to cope with likely flood like situation in other parts of country due to monsoons.
