PM commends heroes who rescued trapped chairlift passengers in daring operation

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul-Haq Kakar awarded commendation certificates to valiant commandos, armed forces personnel and local residents who rescued eight trapped passengers of dangling cable car in Battagram.
Addressing commemoration ceremony held at PM Office, he said recognition was well-deserved by every individual involved, who exhibited remarkable prowess in orchestrating mission to triumphant conclusion.
He emphasised that entire nation shared concerns for safety of the trapped children, who remained stranded on chairlift for hours. He remarked that successful endeavor was collaborative achievement, acknowledging that recognition was also due to those who, from confines of their homes, prayed for safe and successful rescue operation.
He said being father, he could feel pain of stranded children’s parents but teamwork based on prudent efficient planning ensured their safety.
“Hats off to all of you who did an immaculate job. Biggest credit goes to those who were carrying out planning,” he remarked. Sharing their emotions with PM, children said they were extremely worried but had sense of satisfaction after coming to know that Pakistan Army had launched rescue operation.
He said that paramount duty of state encompassed providing quality healthcare and education and an atmosphere for dignified life. Referring to martyrdom of security personnel in South Waziristan, he said that those trying to obstruct state’s functioning through their ill intentions must remove their misunderstanding.
He reiterated that nation would never forget sacrifices of martyrs of war against terrorism including politicians, police services, Pakistan Army, journalists, PAF and common citizens.
Prime Minister Kakar reassured that state affairs were in hands of highly capable individuals. Caretaker setup had limited time and mandate to facilitate forthcoming general elections, he added.
Earlier, he distributed commendation certificates among security forces personnel as well as local experts who took part in rescue operation. Rescued children attended event were also given souvenirs.
Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority Lt. General Inam Haider Malik said effective coordination among all relevant departments led to success of the difficult operation.
