Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir. In their meeting, premier and Army Chief discussed national security situation and Pakistan Army’s professional capabilities. Sources said that meeting underscored exchange of thoughts on country’s law and order situation, COAS briefed PM Shehbaz on professional matters of Army.

Meeting deliberated implementation of decisions taken at National Security meeting, as well as brought intelligence-based operations against terrorism to light. It should be noted that meeting comes at time when government and military leadership have decided to take strict measures against perpetrators of May 9 violent incidents in country.

On June 7, Formation Commanders’ Conference chaired by Chief of Army Staff Gen Munir underlined that “Noose of law” will be tightened around “Planners and masterminds, who mounted hate ripened and politically driven rebellion” against state and state institutions on May 9.
