PM calls for inclusion of global experts in economic reforms consultation process

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to include global experts and all stakeholders in reforms consultation process aimed at improving economic health and financial stability of country.
Chairing meeting on economic revival and reforms, PM said he would oversee implementation of these economic reforms. During meeting, Shehbaz said that strengthening of economy was among top priority of his government.
He said that government would provide all facilities to export industries and increase global market outreach of country’s exports. He said that they would increase tax net instead increasing taxes, besides supporting small, medium and large industries in country.
He asked for submission of reports over economic reforms in different sectors in phases, besides directing to give vital significant to value addition exports in country’s export policy.
He vowed to bring country’s exports into international value addition chain. Expertise of international experts with regard to increasing of capability in export sector should be utilised, he observed.
Ministers including Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Dr Musadik Malik, Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, Governor State Bank of Pakistan Jameel Ahmed, Jehanzaib Khan, Chairman FBR Malil Amjad Zubair Tiwana, Dr Ejaz Nabi, Dar Naveed Ahmed, Dr Faraz Hayat and relevant senior officials attended meeting.
During meeting, different proposals regarding reforms in different sectors of economy and comprehensive roadmap over export surge, reforms in power sector, revenue generation and industrial development were presented. PM directed for submission of comprehensive plan by enhancing existing capacity in power sector.
He opined that they would also equip youth with latest and international standard education and skills and directed for launching of skill development programme in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan will not tolerate any more cross-border terror attacks on its soil. He said security of geographical frontiers of Pakistan is redline.
Pakistan desires to have cordial relations with neighbouring fraternal countries to promote trade and economic relations. However, it is not acceptable that land of neighbouring country is used for terrorism in Pakistan, he added.
Shehbaz Sharif proposed formulation of joint strategy with sincerity of purpose to defeat scourge of terrorism. He said collective efforts against terrorism will help establish peace in region and address other issues such as that of poverty.
