PM calls for equal opportunities for all to reap tech benefit

DAVOS: Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar called for ensuring equitable opportunities for all nations and regions to benefit from modern technology.

Speaking at forum titled ‘Trade Tech’s Trillion-Dollar Promise’ on sideline of 54th annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF), he highlighted crucial role of state-of-the-art technology in achieving rapid development targets.

He acknowledged growing significance of digital economy in future and stressed that every region of world should have opportunity to benefit from technological advancements. He called for focus on development of technology sector to ensure that its benefits are distributed globally. Stressing need to ensure equitable opportunities for all to secure technology, he said it was key to ensure sustainable global development.

Addressing trade and business challenges, Kakar advocated for encouraging private sector to boost investment. He underscored different perspectives of government and private entities in approaching trade and business challenges.

“Government does think in different way and manner when it approaches towards challenges of trade and business, while private entities and business people have different opinions,” he said, adding that private entities should take leading role in influencing and contributing to finding solutions, becoming opinion-makers in process.
