PM assures to extend facilitation to Chinese investors

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured to extend every possible facilitation to Chinese investors for investment in Pakistan.

He made remarks while talking to delegation of Service Long March Tyres and Chaoyang Long March Tyres led by Chairman Li Qingwen here.

Shehbaz Sharif said China has also supported Pakistan in difficult times. He said China is longstanding friend of Pakistan.

Prime Minister directed relevant quarters to extend maximum facilitation to Chinese investors for improvement of tyres industry in Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities concerned to curb smuggling of tyres. He said comprehensive policy should soon be furnished to check smuggling of tyres and spare parts. Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Chinese investment through joint venture with prominent Pakistani tyres company.

Prime Minister was informed that tyres being manufactured in Pakistan at plant established through Chinese investment are being sold in international markets. It was informed that production of tyres would be increased to take annual exports to two hundred million dollars.

Meanwhile, addressing ceremony in connection with launching of Social Protection Accounts under Benazir Income Support Programme here Prime Minister applauded sincere efforts of Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri to bring improvement, transparency and expansion into this programme within span of one year only.

Terming BISP programme as valuable welfare project, he said Benazir Bhutto Shaheed envisioned this programme and then it was initiated back in 2008.

Also present Shazia Marri said coalition government made significant increase of seventy two percent in BISP budget and allocated 404.2 billion rupees this year against 235 billion rupees in 2022.
