PM apprises UN Chief on India’s human rights violations in IIOJK

NEW YORK: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar met United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and apprised him on India’s ongoing human rights’ violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In meeting held on sidelines of 78th session of UN General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister highlighted India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, where it had abolished status of Kashmir. Kakar called for implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Prime Minister thanked Secretary General for his unwavering support during last year’s floods and for co-hosting Geneva Conference on Pakistan’s Resilient Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Framework (4RF).
Recognising grave threat of climate change, PM Kakar stressed importance of fulfilment of climate finance commitments by developed nations. He apprised UNSG on newly esablished Special Investment Facilitation Council which has objective of promoting investments in Pakistan for robust economic recovery of country. Prime Minister appreciated United Nations Secretary General’s call for global financial transformation to invigorate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and proposed measures for augmenting SDG agenda.
Meanwhile, Caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng discussed bilateral relations and economic matters including China-Pakistan Economic Corridor during meeting.PM Kakar appreciated China’s consistent support for regional integrity, autonomy and socioeconomic development.
He acknowledged China’s principled stance by opposing the holding of G20 summit in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Vice President Han Zheng emphasised unique friendship between China and Pakistan, highlighting deep and brotherly ties between people of both countries.
He stated that Pakistan holds special place in China’s neighbourly diplomacy as close neighbour and iron brother.
