ISLAMABAD: Government extended date of self-enumeration for Population Census 2023, following Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) demand.
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) spokesperson, date for self-enumeration for seventh census has been extended initially by seven days (March 10).
Decision to extend date for self-enumeration of country’s first digital census which was initially scheduled to end tonight (March 3) at 12am was withdrawn during relevant committee’s meeting for public convenience. Development comes days after Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan objected to time allotted for carrying out census while calling for extending time specified for three phases of self-enumeration, house enumeration and census.
Sources claimed that PM Shehbaz while accepting demands directed authorities concerned to issue formal order in this regard. Spokesperson stated that officials are considering making it longer than week. Website frequently goes down because so many people are trying to access it.
“Till now, eight million people have self-enumerated themselves. Process of self-enumeration began on February 20,” spokesperson added.
