KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Chief Pir Sibghatullah Shah popularly known as Pir Pagara announced forfeiture of two Sindh Assembly seats won by Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA)- coalition of political parties in Sindh in 2024 general elections, alleging electoral rigging.
Describing elections as “Unfair”, Pagara, during press conference called for peaceful protest against rigging and announced plans for sit-in on February 16 near Hyderabad Bypass Road.
He alleged that Pakistan Peoples’ Party had been unfairly assigned constituencies won by GDA, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Pagara recalled an incident few months ago when he was approached by an individual, whom he referred to as “Friend”, to disband his party and offered two to three national and provincial constituencies. When I refused offer, citing my loyalty to my party members, I was warned of potential losses in elections.”
Pagara criticised allocation of entire constituencies to Asif Ali Zardari, suggesting it was in exchange for his supposed obedience. Pagara stated that GDA would stage sit-in outside Sindh Assembly on day session commences.
