KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced to raise salaries of its employees by 10 percent. National airline's board gave approval for increase after federal government's announcement.

After increase in salaries, there was possibility of an increase in pensions of retired employees as well, sources revealed.

According to Pakistan International Airlines financial report, national flag carrier incurred loss of Rs 67 billion in first nine months of 2022. International Monetary Fund has also asked government to minimise losses of Pakistan International Airlines. IMF mission is in Pakistan for talks on 9th review of stalled loan programme.

Fund has directed government to devise strategy to lower losses being faced by PIA as overall losses reach Rs 400 billion.
