KARACHI: The PIA management on one hand has illegally handed over a list of hundreds of employees targeted under its so-called fake degree scandal who were already removed from service; to the FIA and the FIA has ceased their personal bank accounts without any verification of the charges leveled against them. Most of those employees are found innocent even by the courts. But on the other hand, the same PIA management not only kept the real culprits remain employed but also respectably retired them under the Government of Pakistan VS Scheme by paying millions of rupees from the national exchequer.

Saad Khan, a PIA employee at the time of induction on 01-05-2003 on a contract basis, but was later regularized and permanently absorbed in PIA on 01-07-2008 submitted his Matriculation certificate that was found fake/bogus upon verification from the concerned Board. He gave false information at the time of induction. Therefore, this act on his part is tantamount to misconduct under the purview of the Employees Disciplinary Policy – 2019 as theft, fraud, and dishonesty during the service of the Company.

He was called upon to show cause notice on 10-12-2020 by Athar Hussain, General Manager of HR as to why action in accordance with the company rules should not be taken against him. The competent authority ordered a departmental inquiry against Saad Khan. The inquiry officer submitted his findings wherein he was found guilty of the charges leveled against him. Accordingly, he was awarded the punishment of demotion to a lower pay group i.e. demotion from PG-II to PG-I with immediate effect by Tanzeela Tahareen, A/Manager HR Flight Ops. However, on 21-06-2021 PIA management under the GoP support to PIACL for Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) paid Rs 1.811 million by cheque to Saad Khan.

Another case was of Abdul Sattar Malik who was issued a show cause notice on 19-06-2008 that the educational certificate of Matriculation submitted by him was found fake/bogus on verification from the Board concerned. Why a disciplinary action may not be initiated against him on account of the said misconduct. With reference to the show cause notice dated 14-03-2018 issued by Actg. Internal Auditor on account of submitting fake/bogus Matriculation certificate at the time of induction in PIA. The Inquiry Officer submitted his findings wherein Abdul Sattar Malik was found guilty of the charges leveled against him. The management awarded the punishment of Demotion/ Reduction to a Lower Pay Group i.e. demotion from PG-II to PG-I with immediate effect. This order was too issued by Tanzeela Tahareen, A/Manager HR Flight Ops.

However, on 21-06-2021 PIA management under the GoP support to PIACL for Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) paid Rs 1.964 million by cheque to Abdul Sattar Malik.
