Petroleum Division notifies massive hike in gas price

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker government notified massive hike in gas prices which would be taken into effect on November 1.
Petroleum Division issued notification regarding massive hike in gas prices for domestic, export, non-export units, CNG, cement and other sectors.
However, gas prices were not hiked for protected consumers using 25 to 90 cubic metres in month, however, fixed charges for this category of consumers were increased from Rs 10 to Rs 400.
Notification stated that gas prices for non-protected domestic consumers were hiked by over 172 percent.
Gas prices for different slabs of consumers are-consumers using 25 cubic metres from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per mmBtu, using 60 cubic metres from Rs 300 to Rs 600 per mmBtu, using 100 cubic metresfFrom Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per mmBtu, using 150 cubic metres from Rs 600 to Rs 1,200 per mmBtu, using 200 cubic metres from Rs 800 to Rs 1,600 per mmBtu, using 300 cubic metres from Rs 1,100 to Rs 3,000 per mmBtu, using 400 cubic metres from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500 per mmBtu, using over 400 cubic metres from Rs 3,100 to Rs 4,000 per mmBtu. Tandoors Rs 600 per mmBtu (previous rate is maintained).
Power plants Rs 1,050 per mmBtu, cement sector Rs 4,400 per mmBtu, CNG sector Rs 3,600 per mmBtu, export units Rs 2,100 per mmBtu and non-export units Rs 2,200 per mmBtu.
