Petition for restoration of Nawaz Sharif as PML-N President: LHC declares non maintainable

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared non maintainable petition seeking restoration of Nawaz Sharif as President of PML-N. Justice Ali Baqair Najfi took up for hearing objection raised on petition in connection with restoration of Nawaz Sharif as President of PML-N.

Court while upholding Registrar office objection declared petition inadmissible. Registrar LHC raised objection Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by Supreme Court (SC). Petitioner should resort to SC. Registrar LHC further said in his objection LHC is subordinate to SC. Therefore, case cannot be heard here.

Plea was taken in petition Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from National Assembly seat in 2017. Imran Khan and Sheikh Rasheed filed petition seeking removal of Nawaz Sharif from position of President of PML-N.

It was further said in petition that SC had ordered to remove Nawaz Sharif from PML-N president-ship in 2018.

Nawaz Sharif took plea in his petition that Election Commission has disqualified Imran Khan from NA-95 Mianwali. But Imran Khan has not been removed from chairmanship of party.

It was requested in petition that court should issue order for restoration of Nawaz Sharif as President of PML-N.
