Pervez Khattak rubbishes reports holding any ‘backdoor talks’ with govt

PESHAWAR: PTI's senior leader Pervez Khattak denied holding backdoor talks and meetings with government after senior members of ruling alliance claimed that party and its leaders reached out for talks.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan and party leaders, including Khattak and Fawad Chaudhry, approached government to hold talks regarding two specific matters election dates and Army Chief's appointment.
Speaking with journalists here former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said, "No meeting has been held with government for negotiations and no backdoor talks are taking place." Khattak, when talking about party's long march said that party is peaceful. "If Pakistan Democratic Movement wants a clash, then it is their problem."
Commenting on government's reluctance to allow party's long march in federal capital, Khattak said, "We are democratic people. Let us come there, we just stage a sit-in." "We have to move ahead in long march anyway. No one can stop us, it is their misunderstanding if they think so," he said highlighting PTI's resolve to continue "Haqiqi Azadi" march. He added that party has been protesting ever since day Khan was ousted.
